Marketing maven Michelle Durinzi has her hand in almost everything we do here at Robert Ryan Catering & Design — from scheduling tours with prospective clients, to staying up-to-date on event trends, to handling our social media presence. We love to share stories about our stellar staff, and we spoke with Michelle about what a typical day (if there is such a thing!) looks like for her.
I started working for RRC&D in March 2013.
What do you do day to day — is any day typical?
I start each day with a large cup of coffee, then I start distributing event inquiries to the sales team. Throughout the day, I can be found looking through beautiful photographs from weddings and creating real wedding galleries and photo content for our blog, social media and website. I research trends and content for our blog and work closely with our writer who turns my crazy notes into wonderful posts for our current and prospective clients. I help to onboard new employees, create and maintain processes for the office team, handle sales and marketing reports, develop the annual marketing strategy and budget, and research new marketing opportunities. I also work out any technical issues and offer IT support for some of the smaller day-to-day breakdowns. And more!
How would you describe Robert Ryan Catering & Design to a potential client or employee?
We’re a family! It doesn’t matter if you’re an employee or a client — you’re part of the extended family! This translates into how we handle every event, from the meticulous care we put into our venues, to our incredible food, to the service you receive both planning and during your event.
I’ve moved a lot, but I spent most of my young childhood in Wilmington, Delaware, and my teenage years in West Chester, Pennsylvania. I’ve never really been able to do one thing at a time, so trying to pin down one “career” was never something I was able to do. Luckily, I can do a little bit of everything with RRC&D – sales, marketing, design, photography, troubleshooting and fixing things. I’m never bored!
What do you love most about your job?
Working with awesome people, including our employees, vendors and clients. Hearing phenomenal feedback from clients is a highlight. And, as I mentioned above, keeping busy with a little bit of everything.
Tell us something about yourself that no one would know just by looking at you.
I was struck by lightning and died! Really! I was talking to a retired EMT when it happened, which is why I am alive and not suffering from any long-term effects. He got my heart beating again in a little over five minutes.
I spend most of my free time with my daughter (16) and my nieces (4 and 6) playing games, shopping, girl stuff, doing community activities and attending concerts. We love the beach!
What would be your desert island last meal?
I’m a cold-weather, comfort-food girl. I’d pick either a short rib grilled cheese or chicken pot pie. I can’t decide!
