What’s it like to be a Robert Ryan Catering & Design (RRC&D) Jane-of-all-Trades? Just ask the multi-talented Jalissa Towles! If you’re one of our couples or clients, she’ll no doubt have a hand in making your day special.

What is your job title? What do you do day-to-day?

I actually have multiple job titles here at Robert Ryan Catering & Design! I was hired as a day-of coordinator, which comes with many responsibilities to make sure that my events run as smoothly as possible. But, my main responsibility is keeping my bride and groom stress-free and happy on their very special day. A few weeks after being hired, I was offered the staffing coordinator position, too. In this role, I’m responsible for everything staffing-related. I’m also moving into event support.

How long have you worked for Robert Ryan Catering & Design?

I have only worked at RRC&D since June 2021. I came in during the busiest season they have ever executed in their 29 years of business, due to COVID and so many wedding postponements. In these seven months, I’ve learned and grown in so many ways that it feels like I’ve been here forever.

How would you describe Robert Ryan Catering & Design to a potential client or employee?

Robert Ryan Catering & Design is truly a unique company run by a small but strong family. From the back of the house to the front of the house, every part of the planning process is filled with a level of personal care that is rare to find anywhere else. Our team is passionately dedicated to making your dream event a reality.

Where did you grow up? What did you want to be when you were growing up?

I grew up in Reading, Pennsylvania. When I was younger, I wanted to be a lawyer. Then I wanted to be a X-ray technician and eventually do sonography; I went to school for a year, and then realized it was not for me. My current roles are what I was meant to do.

What do you love most about your job?

The thing I love most about my job is being able to watch the bride and groom have the time of their lives — and, being able to be a part of the one day in their life together that they’ll never forget.

Tell us something about yourself that no one would know just by looking at you.

I love arts and crafts. I’m a huge craft and DIY person. I have many craft machines, such as a Cricut and a heat press. I make so many different things! Anytime I find something I like, I always research it and see if it’s possible for me to do it myself.

What do you do for fun outside of work?

I enjoy going to the gym as well as cooking and baking. I love learning new recipes and trying new foods, as well.

What would be your desert island last meal?

I love dark chocolate, coconut and raspberry. So whatever I can get with those three ingredients will be good for me.
