09 May The Fairy Tale Continues: A Wedding Story

In February, we described the fairy tale engagement story of Taryn Pattison and Dave Luskin, who knew each other when they were kids, but lost touch when life took them in different directions. They each eventually got married, had three children, and ended up getting divorced. Years later, their paths crossed again and resulted in a whirlwind romance.

Last summer, Dave decided to secretly plan their entire wedding and pop the question when it was all settled. He picked the venue, the church, the photographer and the DJ. In one of those “you can’t make this up” moments, before Dave could ask her, Taryn came home one day and told Dave that she thought that when they got married “someday,” she’d like to have the reception at a place like Barn on Bridge. Little did she know, Dave had already booked it!

The Big Day

On March 31, the happy couple tied the knot and had their reception at our historic private venue. Among the Barn’s many charms is a permanent tent designed to protect guests from the sun or rain—and that saved the day for Taryn and Dave, who described the weather on their day as less than ideal. Still, it didn’t put a damper on anything. “It poured that day, torrential downpours,” said Taryn. “We were so happy and excited that it didn’t affect us at all. It was perfect.”

Before the Party

When the couple arrived at the Barn, the staff was waiting for them with umbrellas, a thoughtful touch Taryn really appreciated. One of the Barn’s highlights is the two-story Carriage House Hospitality Suite, which many brides use as a dressing area. Taryn and Dave used it as a place for their bridal party to relax before the guests arrived. Staff had food waiting for them, which was great since a lot of the bridal party consisted of their hungry kids!

Top-Notch Attention

“The staff was excellent,” said Taryn. “They went above and beyond.”

Dave agrees. “They treated our kids like kings and queens. The kids wanted mozzarella sticks with dinner (which were pre-reception snacks) and the staff just kept them coming.”

Great Partners

Taryn and Dave were delighted with the recommended businesses that Robert Ryan works with, including The Master’s Baker, which created a four-tier cake with marble, mint chocolate chip, regular chocolate chip and carrot cake. “I don’t even like carrot cake and it was awesome,” said Dave.

Dave also said that the DJ from Silver Sound Entertainment was great and kept everyone up and dancing all night. When it was time to say goodnight to their guests, Dave and Taryn sent them off with a late-night nosh. Guests could grab a “doggie bag” and take home burgers, pretzels and other snacks. “People loved it,” said Dave.

Picture Perfect Day

“It was exactly what we envisioned and wanted,” said Dave. “The price was great. The staff and food were out of the world.”

Taryn added, “The atmosphere was perfect. It was a flawless day.”
