03 Jul Meet the Robert Ryan Catering & Design Team: Madison Gentile, Event Manager
We love to show off our staff, and are delighted to feature Madison Gentile, our event manager.
For some, this is a reintroduction of sorts, as in the last year Madison has gotten married (a Robert Ryan-catered event, of course!), changed her last name and moved from being our training and staffing coordinator to this new role. She’s still the same, service-oriented Madison, but now with new responsibilities.
It’s important to us at Robert Ryan Catering & Design that you feel comfortable with the person who will help you plan your wedding. Getting to know your event planner—your main contact—is a key factor. Our event planners build strong relationships with our clients so that each wedding is a reflection of the couple’s’ personal style. We love to share stories about our staff so that you, our valuable client, can get to know them a bit better.
Madison has a decade of history at Robert Ryan, starting in 2007 as a server at just 16 years old. Two years later, in 2009, she was promoted to a level two wait staff, giving her more responsibility. The following year, Madison was once again promoted, this time to a level one wait staff, where she began training other employees and earned the responsibility of taking care of the bridal party during receptions. Now that she’s an event manager, one of Madison’s favorite things about her new role is she gets a lot more client interaction.
“I love it and I’m having so much fun,” she said. “I get to see clients face-to-face and I am so much more involved in the planning process. I’m passionate about the business. I go into every event like it’s my very own.”
Madison shares some insights about her latest position with Robert Ryan, her favorite tasks and what she does in her off time.
What do you do day-to-day (in your job)?
I meet with couples for a tour of the venue and help them envision what their wedding would be like at The Columbia Station. I meet with them to pick out their menu, create a floor plan, choose linen colors, etc. I will meet with them two weeks before the wedding and introduce them to their day-of-event coordinator. We run through every detail of their wedding from top to bottom to ensure a memorable and successful day. I am always giving advice, coming up with new ideas, vendor recommendations, answering questions and helping put my clients’ minds at ease. If you’re trying to find me on any given day in the office, you can surely find me in a meeting, on the phone or responding to emails with my clients.
How would you describe Robert Ryan Catering & Design to a potential client or employee?
Where do I even begin! I have been with this company for 10 years and been to countless weddings in the area and no one does it better than RRC&D. When I got engaged two years ago, there was no doubt in my mind that Robert Ryan Catering and Design was going to “cater” it. I say “cater it” in quotes because we do so much more than that. When you book with us, you are truly getting the full-service customer experience. Each and every one of us—from the owners, event managers, kitchen staff, operations and day-of-service personnel—we are all invested in the brand and the promise to deliver the best experience for our clients, from start to finish. We treat everyone’s event as if it were our own, as if they were family.
What do you love most about your job?
I love everything about my job—from our close-knit, family-oriented atmosphere, the hustle and bustle of the busy season, the amazing food (obviously), bringing my client’s vision to life and making it better than they ever could have imagined, but being a part of the planning process and helping my clients create their “best day ever!” is, by far, my favorite.
Tell us something about yourself that no one would know just by looking at you.
I am a die-hard Steelers fan. On a Sunday, you can find me decked out in Steelers gear, waving my terrible towel and potentially yelling in front of the TV.
What do you do for fun when you aren’t helping couples plan weddings?
I like to keep it low-key. When I am not at work, I enjoy a relaxing, quiet night at home catching up on Netflix with my husband and fur baby.
What would be your desert island last meal?
An extra-large pepperoni pizza, with a side of ranch … and an ice-cold margarita!
