29 Jul Behind the Brand: Meet Tiffany Johnson, Event Planner

Now, we invite you to get to know our event managers. We’ve already introduced you to Amanda Smith. Time to meet Tiffany Johnson.

What is your job title? What do you do day-to-day?

Tiffany Johnson: I’m an event manager, specifically working at the Barn on Bridge. Daily, I can be found doing many different things, including offering tours of the venue, emailing and speaking on the phone with clients regarding their upcoming events and collaborating with the culinary and operations teams on customizing specific events to bring the client’s vision to life. I introduce couples to their day-of coordinator and discuss final details two weeks before their event.

I also hold meetings with couples a few months before their wedding to catch up, check their planning progress, make decisions on food and linens and gauge where I can be of assistance.

I have been with the company since January 2015. One of my closest friends, Betsy, was married at the Barn on Bridge and during the planning process she was hired as an event manager. When Robert Ryan acquired our newest venue, Philander Chase Knox Estate, there was an opening in the company for an event manager. Betsy knew I would be a great fit with the company and had the passion for the job, so she encouraged me to apply. Soon enough I was an event manager at the Barn on Bridge!

How would you describe Robert Ryan Catering & Design to a potential client or employee?

I describe Robert Ryan Catering & Design as a family company that truly cares about each event that they put on. I talk about how the passion of the owners covers both the front and back of house—Bob with his level of expectations for service and Mark with his attention in the kitchen. I explain that as event managers, none of us came from the wedding industry, but were hired because of our personalities, attention to detail and passion. We’re not here to sell; we’re here to help. I also explain that instead of being scheduled, the day-of staff select the shifts that they want to work which means that they truly want to be there that day.

Where did you grow up? What did you want to be when you were growing up?

I grew up locally in Bridgeport, PA. I always wanted to be in the hospitality industry. While the specifics have changed—I wanted to own my own grocery store or to open a restaurant called “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” (which I now see could be very problematic)—I always knew that I wanted to serve people.

What do you love most about your job?

I really love working with couples from the very beginning when they are googly-eyed and excited, through the middle where they are lost and stressed and until the end when they are back to googly-eyed and excited. It is great to feel the love and enthusiasm at the beginning and end, as well as offer them solutions to issues that are driving them mad. The couples have a vision for their day, and I am able to bring it to life with the experiences and resources that I have. It is very gratifying.

RR Tiffany 3Tell us something about yourself that no one would know just by looking at you.

I have a nine-year-old sister! While there is a huge difference in age, we are super close and it is so fun to watch her grow up.

What do you do for fun when you aren’t helping couples plan weddings?

I love to spend time with my friends and family. I live in Philadelphia and my family lives at the beach so there is always something fun to do, especially in the summer!

What would be your desert island last meal?

Goat cheese. And pizza. Make it a goat cheese pizza.
